Under the leadership of Sh. Himanshu Jain, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana, the district administration took serious cognizance of the non-compliance of Road Safety Committee orders by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
Despite clear directions issued during the Road Safety Committee meeting held on 30 December 2025, it was observed that essential road safety measures—such as installation of traffic signage, lane markings, street lighting, crash barriers, and other accident-prevention infrastructure—were not implemented on NH-44, NH-05A and other identified accident-prone stretches.
Taking a firm stand, the Deputy Commissioner issued strict directions and categorically warned that in case of continued non-compliance, stringent action would be taken against the concerned agency, including initiation of strict action at the Ladhowal Toll Plaza, without any further notice.
Following this decisive intervention by the district administration, NHAI immediately became active on ground and mobilized its field teams to comply with the Road Safety Committee orders. As a result, extensive road safety works have been undertaken, including installation of road safety furniture, hazard markers, barricading, repainting of lane markings, and strengthening of traffic signage at vulnerable locations.
Sh. Himanshu Jain, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana, reiterated that public safety remains the highest priority of the district administration and that all departments and agencies must ensure strict and timely compliance with Road Safety Committee orders. Any future negligence or delay will invite strict administrative action.
The Ludhiana district administration remains committed to reducing road accidents and ensuring safer roads for all citizens through continuous monitoring, strict enforcement, and coordinated inter-departmental action.
