NEW DELHI / CHANDIGARH; 10th October 2026:

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) strongly condemned Modi’s Delhi Police for entering Gurdwara Sri Bangla Sahib wearing shoes, bareheaded and carrying batons to detain youth protesting against vote-chori, calling it a violation of the sanctity of the Guru Ghar and an affront to Sikh religious sentiments. AAP questioned whether the BJP wanted to violate the sanctity of Gurdwara Sahib in a manner reminiscent of the suffering inflicted on the Sikh community during Operation Blue Star in 1984. The party also condemned the dragging of a Sikh protester through the streets and the tearing of his trousers, while expressing concern over the silence surrounding the police action and accusing the BJP of disregarding Sikh religious traditions and the sanctity of the Guru Ghar.

Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan said, “A Shameful Act By Delhi Police Under The Modi Government. To detain young people raising their voices against vote-chori, police personnel entered Gurdwara Sri Bangla Sahib bare-headed and wearing shoes, violating the sanctity of the holy shrine.”

Senior AAP leader and Punjab Cabinet Minister Harpal Singh Cheema stated, “Just as the Congress inflicted immense suffering on the Sikh community through Operation Blue Star in 1984, does the BJP now want to violate the sanctity of Gurdwara Sri Bangla Sahib Ji in Delhi in a similar manner? We will not tolerate politics that inflicts such deep wounds on the Sikh community.”

AAP Punjab Media In-charge Baltej Pannu stated, “Delhi Police entered Gurdwara Bangla Sahib in Delhi today, yet everyone has maintained silence on the matter so far.”

Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur stated, “By disregarding the sacred sanctity of Gurdwara Bangla Sahib, the BJP’s Delhi Police has deeply hurt the religious sentiments of the Sikh community. Entering the Guru Ghar wearing shoes, bareheaded and carrying batons to arrest young people raising their voices against vote-chori is highly condemnable. A Gurdwara is a place of refuge for everyone, not a place to display police high-handedness. The BJP’s actions have once again exposed its disregard for Sikh religious traditions and the sanctity of the Guru Ghar.”

AAP Delhi MLA Jarnail Singh stated, “Why Did the Police Take Action Inside Gurdwara Bangla Sahib? The incident at Gurdwara Bangla Sahib today, in which police personnel allegedly entered wearing shoes, carrying batons and beating people while forcing them out, is extremely serious. Why was such action taken at a sacred place like Gurdwara Sahib? The DSGMC (Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee) must answer.”

AAP Punjab Prabhari Manish Sisodia stated, “What is this?
Delhi Police inside Bangla Sahib Ji Gurudwara?”

Meanwhile, AAP Delhi Unit President Saurabh Bharadwaj shared a video purportedly showing Delhi Police personnel dragging a Sikh protester through the streets, during which his trousers came off. Condemning the incident, Saurabh Bharadwaj tagged Union Home Minister Amit Shah and wrote, “I got this video from someone. If this is true, then it’s the height of shamelessness. Delhi Police cannot strip Sikh protesters like this. Earlier, as highlighted, Delhi Police tried to take off protesters’ pants. This is yuck.”
