longside proactive prevention efforts, law enforcement teams continue strict enforcement measures across the district, targeting illicit drug trafficking and bootlegging networks. On 08-10-2026, police registered 09 FIRs under the NDPS Act, resulting in the arrest of 11 individuals. As part of these ongoing anti-drug drives, police also conducted a targeted Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) at village Chaunta under PS Koom Kalan. Operations across the district led to the recovery of 16 grams of heroin, 53 bottles of illicit liquor, as well as 05 lighters and silver foil (panni).
Parallel to direct enforcement, the police department placed strong emphasis on rehabilitation and treatment, facilitating 28 admissions to OOAT Centres and sending 09 individuals for de-addiction treatment.
Police officials highlighted that enforcement alone is only half the battle. While firm legal action continues against offender networks through operations like CASO, driving early intervention through school seminars and connecting individuals with treatment centres remains central to curbing substance abuse and protecting the youth.
