Ashwani Sharma Calls For Review Of Pm Awas Yojana Allocations

Chandigarh, October 1, 2026: Former Punjab BJP state president Ashwani Sharma has requested the state government to undertake a fair and detailed review of the allocation process under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Mamdot, Ferozepur district.

Sharma said concerns have been raised regarding the selection of beneficiaries and that the matter should be examined through a transparent process. He said the eligibility of beneficiaries should be verified according to the prescribed norms to ensure that deserving families receive the intended benefits of the scheme.

He said that out of 400 families included in the list of applicants, 33 houses were reportedly approved, while two were stated to have been allotted to needy beneficiaries. Sharma suggested that the remaining cases should also be reviewed to ascertain whether the allocations were made in accordance with the scheme's guidelines.

He also sought a fresh review of the applications of 367 families whose requests were not approved. Sharma said that any discrepancies found during the review should be addressed according to the applicable rules, while ensuring transparency and fairness throughout the process.

He emphasised that proper verification and transparent implementation would help ensure that the benefits of the PM Awas Yojana reach families who meet the eligibility criteria.
