Congress Decision to Reduce Verses of ‘Vande Mataram’ an Insult to Martyrs: Kewal Singh Dhillon
Punjab Bharatiya Janata Party President Kewal Singh Dhillon has strongly condemned the Congress decision to sing only two verses of ‘Vande Mataram’. He said that limiting symbols associated with national sentiments for political gains reflects Congress’s old politics of vote-bank appeasement.
Dhillon stressed that ‘Vande Mataram’ is not merely a song, but a symbol of India’s freedom struggle and the countless sacrifices made by patriots. Restricting the song amounts to an insult to the martyrs who, inspired by this slogan, sacrificed everything for the freedom of the country.
He said that at a time when there is a need to preserve the historical significance of this song, Congress’s decision goes against the unity and integrity of the country.
BJP Punjab will strongly oppose this approach of the Congress among the people and will make the public aware of Congress’s politics of appeasement.
