The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Punjab received a major political boost in Bathinda as former MLA from Bathinda Rural constituency Darshan Singh Kotfatta, along with his supporters, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party under the leadership of Punjab BJP State President S. Kewal Singh Dhillon. The joining took place in the presence of Smt. Parampal Kaur Maluka, BJP candidate from Bathinda in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, State Media Head Vineet Joshi, Bathinda Urban District President Sarup Chand Singla, and Bathinda Rural District President Gurpreet Singh Maluka.
Along with Darshan Singh Kotfatta, several local leaders also joined the BJP, including Mintu Singh, Sarpanch, Batti Patti Chak Attar Singh Wala; former Zila Parishad Member Malkeet Singh Balluana; Gurtej Singh Rana, Senior Vice President, Rampura Phul; former Sarpanch Jagjit Singh Loolwai; Angrez Singh, President, Gurdwara Committee Loolwai; former Sarpanch Jasvir Singh Jaisingh Wala; former Sarpanch Pash Singh Batti Patti; and former Sarpanch Balwinder Singh Phullomithi.
In addition, Ankit Chawla, former Chairman of the National Rajiv Gandhi Brigade from Bathinda city; former Gram Panchayat Members Gurpyar Singh and Balraj Singh Chughke Kalan; Akali Dal youth leader Rampal Singh Chughke Kalan; Jagjit Singh Loolwai; Har Gurnaz Singh (Laddi) of Sardargarh; Gurcharan Singh, former Youth President of village Deon; and Harcharan Singh Kotfatta also joined the BJP.
On the occasion, BJP leaders said that people from different sections of society are joining the BJP, impressed by the party’s growing popularity in Punjab and the people-oriented policies of the Central Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. They said the joining in Bathinda is a testament to the BJP’s expanding organisational base and growing strength at the grassroots level.
