Bharatiya Janata Party Punjab State President Kewal Singh Dhillon launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Aam Aadmi Party National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, saying that these leaders only know how to indulge in politics and create a ruckus over people’s issues, but when given an opportunity to debate serious issues in Parliament, they are seen running away from discussion.
Dhillon said that Parliament is currently in session, but instead of debating issues inside the House, Rahul Gandhi prefers to create a ruckus outside Parliament. He said that every minute of Parliament’s time and every rupee of the people’s money is precious. Disrupting parliamentary proceedings and wasting public money and valuable time reflects the irresponsible politics of the Congress.
He said that while Rahul Gandhi had repeatedly been demanding answers from Home Minister Amit Shah, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju made it clear yesterday that the Home Minister was ready to answer every question on every issue in Parliament. Despite this, Congress walked out of the House instead of participating in the debate. He said this clearly shows that Rahul Gandhi and Congress are not interested in resolving issues but only in creating political drama.
Dhillon also expressed serious concern over the police action during the students’ protest in Ranchi, Jharkhand. He said that reports of the manner in which students peacefully raising their voices for their rights and employment were treated are extremely worrying.
He said that reports of the use of barbed wire, tear gas, water cannons and lathi-charge to stop the students have raised serious questions.
Dhillon questioned why Rahul Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal have remained silent on the Ranchi incident when Jharkhand has a coalition government involving Congress. He said that speaking about students’ rights only for political gains and remaining silent when a political ally is in power is an example of double standards in politics.
Dhillon also targeted the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab, saying that whenever youth, employees, farmers, labourers and teachers, among other sections, take to the streets to demand their rights, the government responds with force. Serious issues such as paper leaks in Punjab have also raised questions about the future of the youth and the government recruitment process.
Shri Dhillon said that the politics of Congress, Rahul Gandhi and the Aam Aadmi Party has been reduced to nothing more than opposition to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party. He said that the Opposition has every right to oppose the government, but it is equally its responsibility to engage in constructive debate on issues concerning the country’s development and public welfare.
Shri Dhillon said that the Bharatiya Janata Party stands firmly with the students of Jharkhand and will oppose every attempt to suppress their voice.
He challenged Rahul Gandhi not to run away from debate in Parliament and to break his silence on the action taken against students in Jharkhand.
