Punjab BJP President Sardar Kewal Singh Dhillon strongly condemned the police lathi-charge on sanitation workers and women who were peacefully protesting in Barnala over their legitimate demands.
Dhillon visited the Civil Hospital in Barnala to enquire about the condition of the injured workers and launched a sharp attack on the Aam Aadmi Party government and the hospital administration over their handling of the incident. He also extended financial assistance of ₹10,000 each to 13 injured workers to support their medical treatment. Earlier, he also joined the ongoing protest of sanitation workers at the Municipal Corporation office and assured them that the Bharatiya Janata Party would firmly stand with them in their struggle.
Speaking on the occasion, Dhillon said that peaceful protests as the democratic right of every citizen. He alleged that several workers sustained serious injuries, with some suffering head wounds while others sustained fractures to their legs and shoulders.
He said sanitation workers perform the essential task of keeping cities clean and deserve the highest respect and gratitude. Instead of addressing their legitimate demands.
