CHANDIGARH; 28th July 2026:

Punjab Finance and Transport Minister Harpal Singh Cheema on Tuesday held a series of comprehensive meetings with key trade, transport, and public sector employee unions to address their legitimate demands and operational challenges.

During the key transport sector discussions, Transport Minister Harpal Singh Cheema held detailed deliberations with delegations from the Punjab State Goods Transport Association and the Small Scale Bus Operators' Association.

Reaffirming the Bhagwant Mann Government's commitment to supporting the transport industry as the backbone of the state's economy, the Transport Minister said, "The Punjab Government remains fully committed to supporting the transport sector, and all legitimate demands of both associations will be resolved in a time bound manner."

To ensure swift administrative implementation, Minister Harpal Singh Cheema directed Secretary Transport Varun Roojam and State Transport Commissioner Parneet Shergill to thoroughly examine the detailed memorandums submitted by the transport unions, prepare actionable solutions to their key issues, and hold follow up technical meetings at the earliest to finalise the resolutions.

In addition to the transport sector meetings, Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, in his capacity as Chairman of the Cabinet Sub Committee on employee affairs, held extensive interactions with representatives of the GPWSC Water Supply Pump Operator Association Punjab, NHM Employees Union, Outsource Sehat Vibhag Mulazam Union and Punjab Pardesh Paledar Mazdoor Union.

Responding to the concerns raised by the employee and worker organisations, Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said, "The Punjab Government is treating your demands with the utmost empathy and seriousness, and necessary steps are being actively evaluated to provide timely relief.”

During the meetings, Charan Singh Lahoria, J.P. Aggarwal, Balraj Sharma, Comrade Prem Singh Banur, and Shaminder Singh Brar from the Punjab State Goods Transport Association, Darshan Singh, Sandeep Sharma, Jagroop Singh and Barinder Singh from the Small Scale Bus Operators' Association, Beant Singh and Avtar Singh from the GPWSC Water Supply Pump Operator Association, Sandeep Kaur, Jasvir Singh and Dr, Wahid Mohammad from N.H.M. Employees Union, Gurjinder Singh Aulakh, Harmandeep Singh Sidhu and Najar Singh from the Outsource Sehat Vibhag Mulazam Union, and Shinderpal Singh and Jagtar Singh from the Punjab Pardesh Paledar Mazdoor Union presented their issues and demands.
