Disha Women Welfare Trust Celebrates the Spirit of Teej at Rattan Professional College
Narinder Kaur Crowned 'Mrs. Teej'; Surinder Kaur Wins the 'Mrs. Punjaban' Title

"Teej is not just a festival; it is a celebration of relationships and Punjabi culture. We must preserve our traditions and cultural heritage and pass them on to the younger generation. Today, our daughters are excelling in every field, and it is our collective responsibility to provide them with equal opportunities." These views were expressed by Dr. Gurpreet Kaur Mann, wife of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, while addressing over 700 women at the 9th 'Mela Teeyan Da', organized by Disha Women Welfare Trust under the leadership of its President Hardeep Kaur, inspired by Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh, at Rattan Professional College. Dr. Mann said that festivals like Teej strengthen family bonds, promote togetherness, and help preserve Punjab's rich cultural heritage for future generations.
The event was graced by Raj Lali Gill, Chairperson of the Punjab State Women Commission, as the Guest of Honour, while Ms. Khushboo, a member of MLA Kulwant Singh's family, attended as a Special Guest. The programme was also attended by Sunder Lal Aggarwal, Chairman of Rattan Group of Institutions; Kapil Sharma, Director, YBTC; Simranjit Singh Lally (Kharar); Mahinder Pal Singh, Managing Director, Prachar Media; and Subhash Goyal, Managing Director, Vardaan Ayurveda, along with several distinguished personalities from different walks of life. More than 700 women participated enthusiastically, dressed in traditional Punjabi attire. Performances featuring Giddha, Boliyan, swings, Mehndi, Phulkari, and other cultural presentations beautifully showcased Punjab's vibrant traditions. The highlight of the event was the electrifying performance by renowned Punjabi folk singer R. Deepi Raman, whose soulful songs captivated the audience and had women dancing joyfully throughout the celebration.
The event also featured the 'Mrs. Teej' and 'Mrs. Punjaban' competitions. After a keen contest, Narinder Kaur was crowned 'Mrs. Teej', while Surinder Kaur, Retired Superintendent Grade-I (PNRC), Punjab, won the coveted 'Mrs. Punjaban' title. The winners were felicitated with crowns, mementoes, and attractive prizes. Expressing her gratitude, Hardeep Kaur, President of Disha Women Welfare Trust, thanked all the guests, participants, and supporters for making the event a grand success. She also extended special thanks to Sunder Lal Aggarwal, Kapil Sharma, Simranjit Singh Lally, Mahinder Pal Singh, and Subhash Goyal for their valuable support. The 9th 'Mela Teeyan Da' concluded as a memorable celebration of Punjabi heritage, women empowerment, sisterhood, and cultural pride.
