Paid Obeisance At Gurdwara Sri Bangla Sahib, Remembers Congress' Attack On Sri Akal Takht Sahib As A Painful Chapter In Sikh History: Kewal Singh Dhillon

Jun6,2026 | Jagrati Lahar Bureau | Chandigarh

Punjab Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Sardar Kewal Singh Dhillon on Saturday said that June 6 remains one of the most painful and unfortunate days in Sikh history, as it marks the attack carried out by the then Congress government on Sri Akal Takht Sahib, the highest temporal seat of the Sikh community.

Dhillon stated that the deep wounds inflicted on the collective conscience and religious sentiments of the Sikh community can never be forgotten. He said that every Sikh remembers this day with pain and solemnity and pays homage to all those who lost their lives during that tragic period.

During his visit to New Delhi, Dhillon paid obeisance at the historic Gurdwara Sri Bangla Sahib and bowed before Guru Sahib, seeking blessings for peace, harmony, and prosperity for all. He offered Ardas for the welfare of humanity, the continued progress of the Sikh Panth, and the spirit of Chardi Kala among Sikhs across the world.

Dhillon said that the teachings of the Sikh Gurus inspire society to walk the path of truth, justice, service, and unity. He emphasized that future generations must remain connected to their history and draw strength from the sacrifices made by their forefathers.

Reiterating his commitment to the welfare of Punjab and the Sikh community, Dhillon said that remembering history is essential to ensuring that such painful chapters are never repeated.
