Mp Arora Indulges With Students, Distributes Uniforms

Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Sanjeev Arora distributed school uniforms to students at Government High School, Sarabha Nagar, Ludhiana on Saturday. The event was organized under the Punjab government’s flagship initiative “Pehal”.

Speaking at the occasion, Arora highlighted the dual-purpose approach of the project, which not only supports education but also women empowerment. He said that under "Pehal", unprivileged women who are part of self-help groups (SHGs) have been assigned the task of stitching school uniforms. This initiative not only provides employment opportunities to women but also ensures that children studying in government schools receive quality uniforms free of cost.

Arora informed that the project was launched at the initiative of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, who envisioned a model where the welfare of both children and women is ensured through a single program. “Pehal is a thoughtful step towards inclusive growth. While children feel encouraged and confident in their new uniforms, SHG women gain economic independence through meaningful work,” he said.

The MP further added that the initiative will cover a total of 31 government schools falling under the Ludhiana (West) assembly constituency. Around 7,500 students are expected to benefit from this distribution drive.

Later, during a media interaction, Arora expressed satisfaction over the progress of the project and said that the distribution of uniforms to all eligible schoolchildren will be completed by next week. He shared his delight at witnessing the smiles and excitement among children as they received their new uniforms.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from students and teachers. The initiative was widely appreciated for its community-centered approach and its role in promoting education and women's empowerment simultaneously.
