Dmc&h Hosts Pre-conference Workshops Of National Epilepsy Conference (econ 2026)

The Department of Neurology, DMC&H, Ludhiana successfully organized the Pre-Conference Workshops of the National Epilepsy Conference (ECON 2026), bringing together leading experts and delegates from across the country for a day of advanced scientific learning and skill development on August 6, 2026.

The programme commenced with an inaugural ceremony graced by Sh Mukesh Verma, Treasurer, Managing Society, as the Chief Guest, Dr. G S Wander, Principal, DMC&H as the Guest of Honour, along with Dr. Gagandeep Singh Professor and Head, Department of Neurology & Organizing Chairperson of ECON 2026, the Organizing Secretaries, and the Dr Manoj Sobti, Punjab Medical Council (PMC) Observer.

The conference featured four highly specialized pre-conference workshops includes Neuroimaging in Epilepsy, Brain Dissection, Ketogenic Diet in Epilepsy, and BESA (Brain Electrical Source Analysis). The workshops were conducted by renowned national and international faculty, who shared their expertise through interactive lectures, case-based discussions, live demonstrations, and hands-on sessions. The scientific sessions witnessed enthusiastic participation from more than 200 delegates, including neurologists, neurosurgeons, pediatricians, radiologists, neurophysiologists, postgraduate students, and healthcare professionals from different parts of the country.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Sh Mukesh Verma appreciated the Department of Neurology for organizing a conference of national importance and lauded the efforts of the organizing committee in promoting excellence in medical education. Mr Bipin Gupta, Secretary DMC&H Managing Society  congratulated the Department of Neurology for successfully bringing together eminent experts from India and abroad. Dr. G S Wander, Principal, stated that hosting a prestigious national conference reflects the institution's commitment to academic excellence, research, and continuous professional development.

Dr.Gagandeep Singh, Professor and Head, Department of Neurology and Organizing Chairperson of ECON 2026, remarked that the objective of the workshops was to provide participants with practical, evidence-based learning in rapidly evolving areas of epilepsy care. He mentioned that in cadaveric brain dissection, neurosurgeons and epileptologists had hands on workshop and performed resections, disconnection procedures, vagal nerve stimulation.  

Dr. B S Paul, Organizing Secretary, highlighted the overwhelming response received for the workshops and acknowledged the invaluable contributions of the national and international faculty, whose expertise enriched the scientific programme.  Dr. Monika Singla, Workshop Director, stated that each workshop was carefully designed to bridge the gap between theory and clinical practice. She noted that the combination of hands-on training in neuroimaging, having15 workstations; extensive interactive discussions in ketogenic diet workshop attended by more than 80 dieticians and Paediatric neurologists and expert guidance provided participants with a unique opportunity to enhance their clinical skills and remain abreast of the latest advances in epilepsy diagnosis and management in BESA Workshop.

The Department of Neurology expressed its sincere gratitude to the Managing Society, institutional administration, faculty members, organizing committee, conference secretariat, volunteers, and all delegates for contributing to the grand success of the pre-conference workshops, setting the stage for the scientific deliberations of ECON 2026 from August 7-9.
