Food Safety Team Conducts Checking Drive In Ludhiana; 17 Samples Sent For Analysis

Ludhiana, April 01, 2026: The Food Safety Team, Ludhiana, carried out a checking drive across various parts of the city with the objective of assessing the quality and hygiene standards of food items.
During the drive, inspections were conducted at fast food outlets, restaurants, bakeries, sweet shops, dairies, hostels, and mess facilities. The action was undertaken in areas including PAU, Rishi Nagar, Fountain Chowk, Sector 32, Mundian Kalan, and Jamalpur to ensure that food business operators are complying with safety and hygiene norms.
Providing information, stated that a total of 17 samples were collected during the drive. These included atta, paneer, dahi, prepared vegetables, coconut chutney, manchurian, veg patty, maida, sweet masala, ghee, jaggery, and milk. He added that both raw and prepared food items were covered in order to assess overall quality.
All the samples have been collected as per prescribed procedures and sent to an accredited laboratory for analysis. He further stated that appropriate action will be taken as per the provisions of law based on the laboratory reports.
Dr. Chawla emphasized that all food business operators must strictly follow the guidelines issued by the , including maintaining hygiene, using standard quality ingredients, and ensuring safe food preparation practices.
The Food Safety Department will continue to carry out such checking drives in the interest of public health.
