The campaign led by Rajya Sabha Member Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal to make the Budda Dariya pollution-free is now approaching its final stage. Significant improvement has been recorded in water quality, but the issue of cow dung entering the river still persists.

Due to the shutdown of six motors at the Haibowal ETP Plant, dung-mixed wastewater spread into the streets of the dairy complex, causing major inconvenience to residents. After Seechewal’s team reported the issue, the administration acted promptly and got the motors restarted.

Sant Seechewal made it clear to officials that fulfilling Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s vision of “Rangla Punjab” requires cleaning the Budda Dariya, as Punjab’s true identity and existence are tied to its rivers.

Under the temporary Seechewal Model set up near the Haibowal dairy complex, 105 tons of cow dung were removed from ponds, while only 15 tons were collected through door-to-door efforts. In the Tajpur Dairy Complex, 88 tons of dung were removed from ponds, while only 28 tons were collected from designated points.

According to municipal officials, a total of 426 tons of cow dung has been collected from the Haibowal and Tajpur areas. However, despite these efforts, around 224 tons of dung is still reaching the Budda Dariya and sewage treatment plants.

Sant Seechewal, along with officials from various departments, inspected sewer lines near Ladowal Bypass, as well as in the areas of Jainpur, Talwara, and Baranhade. The issue of untreated dairy waste entering the Budda Dariya through the Barewala drain near the Balloki Bridge was also taken seriously.

Additionally, a review was conducted of the silt being removed from the river using machines near Shivpuri Bridge, as well as the temporary Seechewal Model set up near the Tajpur dairy complex.
