Electoral Roll Observers Review Voter List Revision (sir-2026) In Ludhiana

As per the instructions of the Election Commission of India (ECI), the important work of Special Intensive Revision (SIR-2026) is underway in Punjab. From 13.08.2026 to 12.09.2026, voters can submit claims and objections using Form Nos. 6, 6-A, 7, and 8 both online (via www.voters.eci.gov.in and the Voter Helpline App) and offline (through the concerned Electoral Registration Officer and BLO).
To oversee this exercise as per ECI guidelines, Electoral Roll Observers have been appointed. Arshdeep Singh Thind, IAS have been appointed for Assembly Constituencies 63-Ludhiana Central, 64-Ludhiana West, 65-Ludhiana North, 66-Gill (SC), 68-Dakha, 69-Raikot (SC), and 70-Jagraon (SC). Varun Roojam have been appointed for Assembly Constituencies 57-Khanna, 58-Samrala, 59-Sahnewal, 60-Ludhiana East, 61-Ludhiana South, 62-Atam Nagar, and 67-Payal (SC).
During their visit today, the Roll Observers conducted a detailed review of the entire process by chairing a meeting at Bachat Bhawan, here. This meeting was also attended by Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana, Mr Himanshu Jain IAS, MLAs, presidents/secretaries of recognized political parties, and all Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) of the district.
Welcoming the Roll Observers, Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana Himanshu Jain shared updates on the progress made under SIR-2026 across the district. He noted that the exercise is being carried out transparently and smoothly in full compliance with ECI timelines and guidelines.
During the meeting, the Observers listened to the issues and suggestions raised by the MLAs and political party representatives regarding voter facilitation under SIR-2026. The District Election Officer and EROs were instructed to resolve these issues promptly. In response to suggestions offered by political party leaders, the Roll Observers assured that necessary action would be taken within the framework of election rules.
Addressing requests to rectify discrepancies related to the rationalization of polling stations, the Observers directed all EROs to hold constituency-level meetings with their respective MLAs and party representatives to address all voter grievances immediately. In line with the ECI guidelines, the Roll Observers also visited polling booths during special camps to inspect ground-level arrangements.
