Phagwara Dec 20 (Shiv Kaura) District Magistrate Amit Kumar Panchal exercising the powers vested in him under Section 54 of the Punjab Excise Act, 1914, has declared December 21 as “Dry Day” in the Municipal Corporation Phagwara and Nagar Panchayats (Begowal, Bholath, Dhilwan and Nadala) where elections are being held. He has issued orders prohibiting the opening of liquor shops and the storage of liquor by individuals. This order will also be fully applicable to hotels, restaurants, clubs and liquor premises where sale and consumption of liquor is legally permitted. The Senior Superintendent of Police Kapurthala and Assistant Commissioner (Excise) Kapurthala Range will ensure compliance with these orders
