The School of Allied & Healthcare Sciences at Rayat Bahra Professional University, Hoshiarpur, successfully organized a special guest lecture on "Neuromodulation & Innovations in Neurology" for the students of Bachelors in Psychology. The academic session was held under the guidance of Head of Department Dr. Sukhmeet Kaur Bedi and coordinated by Dr. Kriti Sharma, aiming to bridge clinical neuroscience with behavioral healthcare education.
The keynote speaker for the event was eminent neurologist Dr. Nishit Sawal (DM Neurology, AIIMS; Fortis Hospital), widely acclaimed as the pioneer of neuromodulation in North India. Dr. Sawal shared his groundbreaking medical journey, highlighting his milestones of establishing North India’s first Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) program for Parkinson’s disease in 2018 and pioneering Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS) for refractory epilepsy in 2019.
