Lpu Violence Scientifically And Technically, Strict Action Against Those Responsible: Gaurav Yadav

Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav on Monday said that the Punjab Police was conducting a comprehensive scientific and technical investigation into the incidents of violence involving unidentified miscreants outside Lovely Professional University (LPU) on Sunday night while simultaneously making sustained efforts to facilitate dialogue between students and the university authorities for an amicable resolution of the issues.The DGP, who visited Phagwara to assess the situation, said that the police had made constructive efforts to maintain peace and resolve the concerns of the students. He said that clear directions had been issued to the police force to exercise maximum restraint and not use force against students. “The students were our children, and our priority was to ensure their safety and security. We had made every possible effort to facilitate dialogue between the students and the university authorities and resolve the issues through discussion,” he said.Yadav said that the police had arranged multiple meetings between representatives of the students and the university administration so that the concerns related to internal matters could be addressed through dialogue throughout Sunday. He said that the police remained committed to maintaining a peaceful environment and ensuring the safety of all students, residents and other stakeholders. Regarding the incidents of violence reported on Sunday night, the DGP said that the police were examining all available video footage, CCTV recordings and other technical evidence to identify the persons responsible. He said that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) had already been constituted to conduct a detailed probe and that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found involved in the violence. “Whosoever is found responsible after due investigation will face action as per law,” he added.The DGP also appealed to the public to refrain from circulating unverified videos, audio clips or other misleading content on social media. He urged people to rely only on information released through official and verified sources, adding that appropriate legal action would be taken against those found deliberately spreading unfounded ora misleading material. He further said that the situation in and around the university was completely under control and that adequate police arrangements had been put in place to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incident.Yadav said that immediately after receiving information about the incident during the intervening night of Sunday and Monday, DIG Jalandhar Range Naveen Singla, SSP Kapurthala Gaurav Toora along with adequate police personnel, reached the spot and took prompt measures to bring the situation under control.
