• Massive Year-To-Date Crackdown: 532 Cases Settled, Over 3.5 Tonnes of Contraband Permanently Eradicated in 2026.


 In a decisive blow to the illicit drug trade, the Ludhiana Police Commissionerate under the Yudh Nashian Virudh Campaign of the Punjab Government today turned massive quantities of seized narcotics into ashes. Under the direct supervision of the Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana, Swapan Sharma, IPS, a high-level drug disposal committee comprising of DCP Investigation Harpal Singh, ADCP Investigation Amandeep Singh Brar and ACP Investigation-1 Harshpreet Singh oversaw the legal destruction of contraband linked to 50 separate NDPS Act cases, sending a clear, uncompromising message to drug syndicates: there is no room for contraband in Ludhiana.

The disposal drive was carried out today in strict accordance with the statutory mandates of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, ensuring that the seized poison is permanently taken out of circulation.

Today’s Destruction Count: Up in Smoke
In a single day, the department successfully incinerated and disposed of a massive haul of lethal substances, including a staggering influx of pharmaceutical drugs and commercial-quantity narcotics:
• *Intoxicant Pills:* 2,06,590 units
• *Heroin:* 11 Kg 25 g
• *Poppy Husk:* 212 Kg 300 g
• *Ganja:* 91 Kg 125 g
• *Charas:* 3 Kg 689 g
• *Intoxicant Tablets:* 440 units

The 2026 Scorecard: Dismantling the Network Tonne by Tonne
Mr. Swapan informed that today’s massive bonfire of contraband is just the tip of the iceberg. Ludhiana Police has been on a relentless, round-the-clock offensive since the start of the year. From January 1, 2026, to July 9, 2026, the police have aggressively processed and disposed of case properties across *532 NDPS cases*, crippling the financial backbone of local drug networks.
The staggering volume of drugs permanently eradicated from society this year includes:
• *Poppy Husk:* 3,281.010 Kg (Over 3.2 Tonnes)
• *Ganja:* 188.590 Kg
• *Heroin:* 39.262 Kg
• *Charas:* 6.391 Kg
• *Poppy Plants:* 4.5 Kg
• *Intoxicant Powder:* 1.105 Kg
• *Ice (Methamphetamine):* 100 grams
• *Intoxicant Pills:* 2,28,221 units
• *Intoxicant Tablets:* 2,270 units

Speaking on the massive disposal drive, the Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana, emphasized that the war on drugs is being fought on two fronts: ruthless enforcement on the streets to lock up peddlers, and lightning-fast legal disposal of seized property to maintain absolute transparency.
