Drug Trafficker’s House Built On Illegally Occupied Municipal Land Demolished In Ludhiana

State government will not allow drug peddlers to thrive in Punjab-Swapan Sharma

As part of Yudh Nasheya Virudh campaign to make the state drug-free by taking stringent action against the peddlers and their illegal properties, the Ludhiana Commissionerate Police along with a team of Municipal Corporation demolished the house of drug trafficker Lakhan in Hari Krishna Colony, Transport Nagar on Monday.

This house was illegally constructed on land belonging to the Municipal Corporation and the drive was carried out under the supervision of Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma.

On the occasion, Assistant Town Planner Zone-B Kuljit Singh Mangat and Inspector Harminder Singh Makkar from the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation stated that the land in question falls under the Transport Nagar Development Scheme. This area was designated for vehicle parking under the scheme. The drug trafficker Lakhan had illegally occupied it and constructed a house, which was demolished today with the assistance of Ludhiana Police.

Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma stated that the Punjab Government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against drugs, and strict actions are being taken against drug traffickers. He mentioned that Lakhan has five cases registered against him under the IPC and NDPS Act. He has been sentenced to 10 years in prison and is currently incarcerated.

Issuing a stern warning to drug peddlers, Sharma urged them to abandon their drug trade, or similar actions would be taken against them. He highlighted that the Punjab government, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s leadership, is fully committed to saving Punjab’s youth from the scourge of the drugs. He appealed to the public to report drug-related activities to their nearest police station.

Sharma emphasized that the Yudh Nasheya Virudh campaign, will continue relentlessly, and drug traffickers involved in the drug trade will not be spared. He asserted that there is no place for drug traffickers in Punjab anymore.

The local residents also wholeheartedly appreciated the Punjab Government’s campaign against drugs, expressing gratitude to the Punjab Government, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, and the police administration.
Present on the occasion included Deputy Commissioner of Police (Investigation) Harpal Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Mandeep Singh, Assistant Commissioner of Police Jasbinder Singh and others.
