Punjab Child Rights Commission continues its mission of building a safer and more informed future for children.
: Reinforcing the commitment towards safeguarding children's rights and promoting holistic development, the Nanhe Kadam initiative was successfully conducted at Government High School, Giaspura, Ludhiana. The awareness programme was spearheaded by Gunjeet Ruchi Bawa, Vice Chairperson, Punjab Child Rights Commission, who engaged in an interactive session with students, teachers and school authorities.
Addressing 491 students, Ms. Bawa encouraged children to recognize their rights, remain committed to education and speak fearlessly against any form of abuse, discrimination or neglect. Stressing the importance of creating a safe and inclusive learning environment, she also sensitized students about personal safety, emotional well-being and the growing menace of drug abuse.
A key highlight of the session was spreading awareness about the Child Helpline (1098), with students and educators being encouraged to seek timely assistance whenever needed. Teachers were also sensitized about identifying behavioural and emotional changes among children and extending appropriate support at an early stage.
The programme was held in the presence of Karan Setia, Headmaster, along with the school faculty, who appreciated the initiative for fostering awareness and confidence among students. Aas Ehsaas NGO also extended its support by distributing stationery kits to students as a token of encouragement.
The event concluded with a shared resolve to continue building a safer, more aware and empowering environment where every child can learn, grow and thrive with dignity and confidence.
