A district-level event under the “Yudh Nasheya Virudh” campaign held at Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan, today

LUDHIANA, JUNE 25:
To strengthen the ongoing "Yudh Nasheya Virudh" campaign launched by the Punjab Government, a district-level meet was organized on Thursday at the Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan auditorium, here. The event was chaired by Punjab Cabinet Minister for Revenue, Rehabilitation & Disaster Management, Water Supply & Sanitation, Housing & Urban Development, Hardeep Singh Mundian.

Addressing the gathering, Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian emphasized that the Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is taking strict action against drug smugglers and anti-social elements.

"We are not only breaking the drug supply chain but are also seizing and demolishing the illegal constructions of drug smugglers. No one involved in this illegal trade will be spared," Minister Mundian warned.

He highlighted that drug addiction does not just ruin an individual but destroys entire families and communities. He urged village Sarpanches and Panches, youth clubs, and social organizations to step forward and launch mass awareness drives. He also appealed to leaders to connect youth with sports, education, and employment opportunities.

The Minister noted that drug victims should not be isolated by society. Instead, they need treatment and rehabilitation. He assured that the state government is providing all necessary medical and psychological support through its de-addiction and rehabilitation centers.

Hakam Singh Thekedar, MLA Raikot, stated that the ground-level results of the "Yudh Nashya Virudh" have been highly encouraging and will be intensified further to completely wipe out this menace.

During the event, SSP Khanna, Dr. Darpan Ahluwalia, presented a detailed report to the Cabinet Minister. She shared that the Khanna Police District has secured the No. 1 position in Punjab for its aggressive action against drug peddlers.
She informed that 230 FIRs have been registered based on reports received from Village and Ward Defence Committees via the Safe Punjab portal.

Similarly, SSP Ludhiana Rural, Dr. Ankur Gupta, stated that this campaign is no longer just an official meeting but has turned into a massive public movement to lock up those who push innocent people into addiction for personal greed.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Jagraon) Manjit Singh Cheema assured that the district administration is working tirelessly. He urged citizens to actively share information about drug sales with the police or report anonymously via the Safe Punjab WhatsApp number: 97791-00200.

Prominent among those present on the occasion included DCP Ludhiana Harpal Singh, SDM Kuldeep Bawa, senior civil and police officials, Village/Ward Defence Committee members, and a large number of local residents.
