New Chandigarh, June 9:
The President BCCI Mithun Manhas and Honorary Secretary Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer today unveiled a unique initiative in the form of WALL OF FAME at the New Chandigarh cricket stadium in Mullanpur.
The wall both aesthetically and emphatically depicts the 33 shining stars in cricket hailing from Punjab who have represented and brought glory to the country as well as the State, said Meet Hayer further adding that the inspirational enterprise comprises the group photographs pertaining to the title winning moments in the One day as well as the T20 World Cups.
It must be pointed out that the Indian cricket squad including both Men and Women have bagged 3 ODI (2 Men's & 1 Women's) World Cups besides 3 T20 World Cups (Inaugural one in 2007, then back to back in 2024 and 2026).
The wall includes the photographs of the likes of Yuvraj Singh, Shubman Gill and Harmanpreet Kaur (Women's Team Captain).
Not only this, the Punjab domestic cricket team which won the Ranji trophy in the 1992-93 season and the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy winner team of 2022-23 has also been depicted wonderfully on the wall thus solidifying the golden memories of the cricketing annals of Punjab.
One of the most awe inspiring features of the wall includes the space accorded to the Women cricketers who have made the name of Punjab glitter like a pearl on the cricket firmament.
I am overwhelmed and feel so very proud of the achievements of cricketers from Punjab, said Meet Hayer further articulating that the wall of fame ensures that the golden legacy and contribution of Punjab to the sport in the country lives on forever and is permanently etched in the memory of people.
