In a unique and proactive move to support migrant laborers, the Food Supply dpartment, in collaboration with the district administration, has decided to make 5 KG Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinders available at selected petrol pumps across the city.
This initiative aims to ensure easy and convenient access to cooking fuel, thereby reducing the inconvenience faced by migrant workers and preventing unnecessary reverse migration to their hometowns.
The District Food and Supplies Controllers (DFSC) convened a meeting with petrol pump owners, who enthusiastically pledged their full cooperation and agreed to maintain regular stocks of 5 KG FTL cylinders at designated outlets.
Deputy Commisioner Himanshu Jain said that this step further addresses the LPG availability challenges faced by residents, particularly migrant laborers, and provides much-needed relief to them. The move is will significantly ease the daily lives of thousands of migrant workers in Ludhiana by integrating essential cooking fuel distribution into the existing fuel retail network.
