To promote rural governance, development, and the progress of the country’s rural areas, Green Land Convent School, Civil City celebrated Panchayati Raj Day on April 24,2025. The school organized various activities for the students of different classes, and the students showcased remarkable performances. A documentary on the Panchayati Raj system of rural India was shown to the students from grade VI- IX. The Greenknights of classes X- XII participated in a role play that depicted scenes from a village panchayat. Through this role play, students experienced the structure, functioning, and decision-making process of Panchayati Raj in a realistic way.
Dr. Rajesh Rudhra, the Chairman of Chain of Green Land Schools stated that Panchayati Raj is one of the oldest forms of local governance. The objective of celebrating National Panchayati Raj Day is to spread awareness about Panchayats and Gram Sabhas, which are constitutionally mandated bodies for local self-governance in rural areas. This day aims to highlight the roles, responsibilities, challenges, and resolutions of Panchayats and inspire them to continue their efforts towards rural development.
The School’s Principal, Mrs. Ritu Malhotra said that Panchayats are institutions that contribute significantly to the overall welfare of local communities and the social development of people in rural India. She saluted all the hardworking individuals across India who serve the people through Panchayati Raj institutions.
