CHANDIGARH, February 23

Senior BJP Leader and former union minister Vijay Sampla extended heartfelt thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for conducting the 'ground-breaking ceremony' of the Sant Guru Ravidas Museum at Varanasi on Friday, a day before the 647th birth anniversary of Sant Guru Ravidas, and for inauguration and foundation stone laying of various development works related to the birthplace of Saint Guru, including new statue, on the tune of Rs 96.36 crore.

Modi visited the Guru Ravidas temple and offered prayers, and later in the day, laid the foundation for the museum in Seer Goverdhanpur, the birthplace of the revered guru. He also unveiled a statue of Sant Ravidas inside the temple premises.

Vijay Sampla, in his welcome address for PM Modi at Sant Guru Ravidas Museum, said, “This is PM Modi’s third visit to the guru’s birthplace. The event marked a significant milestone in the region's progress, showcasing the commitment of the BJP government towards cultural preservation. Modi ji is committed in overall development of the Dalit people and the new schemes and policies are example to it.”

“Naming the Ayodhya airport on the name of Maharishi Valmiki, during the historic inauguration of the Ram Mandir on January 22, is another gift to Dalits by the BJP government. Besides, in Modi ji’s leadership, all historic places related to B R Ambedkar have also been converted into pilgrimage centers”, Sampla added.

Sampla, who is also the former chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC), further added, “The Sant Guru Ravidas Museum is poised to become a symbol of cultural pride, celebrating the teachings and legacy of Sant Guru Ravidas, a revered spiritual figure. Constructed at an approximate cost of Rs 23 crore and spanning an area of 4,000 square meters, this museum is poised to become a significant 'pilgrimage center' for the devotees and followers of the sect. The museum aims to promote inclusivity, social harmony, and spiritual enlightenment.”

Sampla further added that the forthcoming museum at his birthplace, Seer Goverdhanpur, will serve as a meaningful homage to his contributions during the Bhakti movement. It will vividly portray Sant Ravidas' birth and spiritual journey through digital images and video clips.

“I extend my heartfelt thanks to Modi ji for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to the development. The Sant Guru Ravidas Museum is a testament to the preservation of our rich cultural heritage, and the foundation stones laid for diverse projects underscore the government's dedication to overall progress", Sampla said
