Chandigarh, June 30
Punjab Bharatiya Janata Party President Kewal Singh Dhillon met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and held detailed discussions on key issues related to Punjab’s development and infrastructure.
During the meeting, Kewal Singh Dhillon thanked the Central Government and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for the ongoing national highway and other development projects in Punjab. He said that the Central Government is continuously working on a large scale to strengthen Punjab’s road infrastructure.
On the occasion, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari stated that under the Bharatmala Project, the Central Government is building a vast network of modern highways and expressways across the country. As part of this initiative, the Jamnagar–Amritsar Economic Corridor is also being developed, which will connect Punjab with major commercial hubs in Rajasthan and Gujarat.
He said these projects will not only improve transportation but also provide a major boost to industry, trade, employment, and economic growth, from which Punjab will significantly benefit.
Kewal Singh Dhillon said that all road projects in Punjab are being developed through central funding, reflecting the Central Government’s visionary approach and commitment. He alleged that instead of undertaking any major development work on its own, the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab is merely trying to claim credit through advertisements.
He further stated that the BJP-led Central Government remains fully committed to the holistic development of Punjab. He added that if a BJP double-engine government is formed in Punjab in 2027, the pace of development will be accelerated further and the state will benefit from several major infrastructure projects.
