Tarun Chugh, National General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party, extended his heartfelt gratitude to Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the landmark decision taken by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs to approve the doubling of the Tirupati–Pakala–Katpadi railway line section. This transformative project, covering 104 kilometers across Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu at an estimated cost of Rs. 1332 crore, is a shining example of the Prime Minister’s commitment to inclusive, sustainable, and future-ready infrastructure.
Tarun Chugh further said, “The project will significantly enhance rail connectivity to over 400 villages and benefit around 14 lakh people, improving travel convenience and providing a vital boost to the local economy. It aligns perfectly with PM Modi’s visionary PM Gati Shakti Master Plan, ensuring seamless movement of people, goods, and services, while also contributing to the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission.”
Highlighting the cultural and spiritual importance of the region, Chugh added, “By improving access to Tirupati, the spiritual heartland that draws nearly 75,000 pilgrims daily and up to 1.5 lakh on auspicious days, this initiative will offer immense benefits to devotees and bolster religious tourism. The region’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage home to landmarks like the Sri Kalahasti Temple, Kanipakam Vinayaka Temple, and Chandragiri Fort will now become more accessible to pilgrims and tourists across the country.”
Emphasizing the project’s environmental and economic impact, Tarun Chugh noted, “The project also serves as a major step towards environmental sustainability. With the potential to reduce oil imports by 4 crore litres and cut down CO2 emissions by 20 crore kg, it’s equivalent to the positive impact of planting one crore trees. Additionally, it will generate 35 lakh human days of employment during the construction phase, creating new opportunities and livelihoods.”
Tarun Chugh further said “Under the dynamic leadership of PM Modi, this cabinet decision marks another milestone towards realizing the dream of a Viksit Bharat, connected, empowered, and self-reliant. Chugh thanked the Hon’ble Prime Minister for this forward-looking, people centric decision that will go a long way in uplifting the socio-economic fabric of the region.
