• Calls socia-religious, political parties and NGOs to join war against drugs

• Reviews actions taken by Mohali District Authorities under “Yudh Nashian Virudh” drive

Punjab Cabinet Minister and state President of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Mr. Aman Arora, on Saturday, said that the Punjab Government under  the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, has taken a firm stance against drug traffickers, with over 1000 drug peddlers already behind bars and around 700 cases registered across the state as part of the "Yudh Nashian Virudh" drive.

During a meeting with SAS Nagar district authorities to review the progress and actions taken under the drive, Mr. Arora highlighted the positive results achieved so far, including the recovery of over 50 kg heroin, over 5 quintal poppy husk, over 30 kg opium and drug money of over Rs 22 lakhs in just eight days. He emphasized that drug peddlers have only two options: to cease their illegal activities or leave the state. The Punjab Government is determined to take every possible step to protect the youth from the scourge of drugs, and no one involved in this illegal practice will be spared, he added.

Mr. Aman Arora gave call to all socio-religious institutions, political parties, and NGOs to join the drive and work together to save Punjab, the land of Gurus, sages, saints, and warriors. He said that it is a collective responsibility and this challenging war can be won through united efforts.

"The Punjab Government has also developed an action plan to rehabilitate drug users, treating them as patients. Adequate arrangements have been made at de-addiction centres and OOAT clinics to help them reintegrate into mainstream society", said Cabinet Minister Aman Arora.

Mr. Arora pointed out that the previous regimes had pushed the youth into the swamp of drugs for their personal gains, and the current government is taking steps to demolish properties built with drug money.

During the meeting, Mr. Arora meticulously examined the actions taken by district authorities to eliminate the drug menace. The meeting was attended by MP Anandpur Sahib Malwinder Singh Kang, MLAs Kulwant Singh and Kuljeet Singh Randhawa, Chairman of Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board Sunny Singh Ahluwalia, Chairperson of Punjab State Women Commission Raj Lali Gill, Chairman of Punjab Youth Development Board Parminder Singh Goldy, Chairperson of District Planning Committee Prabhjot Kaur, Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal, SSP Deepak Pareek, and other senior officials from various departments.

Mr. Arora also directed the DC Mohali to submit all suggestions received during the meeting in writing so that the same can be further considered for policy decisions at the government level.
