19April।The Governor of Punjab Gulab chand katariya assented
Anti sacrilege amendmend bill that provisioned life impisonment to guilty of
sacrilege till last breath of life. The bill named jaagat Jyoti Shri Guru
granth Sahib satkar amendmend bill 2026. Bill was passed unanimously on 13April
im The legislative assembly in a day special session.
Bill turn in to law after governor assent.Now court can punish sacrilege
convict with life imprisonment till last breath and charge RS 25lacs penalty..
punjab chief minister bhagwant maan told in a social media post that new anti
sacrilege law come in to force.He said this is a stride to protect Guru granth
Sahib houner and diginity.
He ssid
government committed to maintain houner of religious book's.
Punjab legislative assembly on 13April 2026passed unanimously Anti
sacrilege amendmend bill.Chief minister Bhagwant maan had said that life
imprisonment means in the bill is imprisonment till last breath.He had ssid rs
25lacs, penalty also can charged.He criticised previous Akali dal and congress
governments to not to bringt guilty of sacrilege in to court of justice. He
said these governments failed to deliver punishment. Punjab legislative
