The Indian Medical Association (IMA), Ludhiana, in collaboration with the Ludhiana branch of Bharatiya Yog Sansthan, commemorated International Yoga Day by organizing a joint yoga session at IMA House, BRS Nagar, Ludhiana, at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday. The event provided a meaningful platform to promote yoga, preventive healthcare, and holistic wellness among healthcare professionals and the general public.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from more than 100 doctors, healthcare professionals, members of Bharatiya Yog Sansthan, and yoga practitioners. Participants performed various yoga asanas, pranayama exercises, and guided meditation practices aimed at improving physical fitness, flexibility, mental well-being, and overall health. Experienced yoga instructors also explained the scientific benefits of regular yoga practice, particularly its role in stress management, disease prevention, cardiovascular health, and maintaining a balanced lifestyle.
Representatives of both organizations emphasized the importance of incorporating yoga, healthy dietary habits, regular physical activity, and mindfulness into daily life to reduce the growing burden of lifestyle-related diseases. As part of its commitment to preventive healthcare and early disease detection, IMA Ludhiana also organized complementary health screening services, including FibroScan assessments, bone health screenings, and several other diagnostic evaluations for the participants.
The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Manoj Sobti, Patron, IMA Ludhiana, and Past State President, IMA Punjab; Dr. Pawan Dhingra, President, IMA Ludhiana; Dr. Avtar Singh Kharay, President-Elect, IMA Ludhiana; Dr. Ashish Ohri, Honorary Secretary, IMA Ludhiana; and Dr. Karamveer Goyal, Member, Punjab Medical Council, along with other office-bearers and members of IMA Ludhiana and Bharatiya Yog Sansthan.
The successful joint initiative reaffirmed the shared commitment of IMA Ludhiana and Bharatiya Yog Sansthan to promoting preventive healthcare, healthy living, and greater awareness regarding the benefits of yoga among the medical fraternity and the wider community. The programme concluded with a collective pledge by the participants to make yoga an integral part of their daily lives and to promote health and wellness within society.
