Ima Ludhiana Organizes Cme On Future Of Neurosurgery And Work-life Balance

Indian Medical Association, Ludhiana, organized a Continuing Medical Education programmer at IMA House, BRS Nagar, Ludhiana, focusing on recent advances in neurosurgery and the importance of maintaining work-life balance among doctors.
The programmer began with a warm welcome of delegates and dignitaries by Dr. Pankaj Mittal, Finance Secretary, IMA Ludhiana, followed by the ceremonial presence of dignitaries on the dais. Sarasvati Vandana was performed to seek the blessings of Goddess Sarasvati for knowledge, wisdom, and continued service to society and patients.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Manoj Sobti, Patron, IMA Ludhiana, highlighted the importance of regular CME activities. He stated that such academic programmers not only enhance the scientific knowledge of doctors but also strengthen professional and social bonds among members of the medical fraternity. He added that unity, interaction, and continuous learning are especially important in the present challenging times being faced by the medical profession.
The keynote academic session was delivered by Dr. Harman Sobti, Senior Consultant Neurosurgeon and Spine Surgeon, who gave an insightful presentation on the future of neurosurgery and spine surgery. He explained how endoscopic and minimally invasive neurosurgical techniques have transformed patient care. He elaborated that many spine surgeries can now be performed through keyhole incisions with the help of advanced neuro-navigation. He also discussed how modern brain surgery allows surgeons to identify and protect critical areas related to speech, vision, and motor function, making complex neurosurgical procedures safer and more precise.
This was followed by a presentation by Dr. Pawan Dhingra, President, IMA Ludhiana, who spoke on the importance of maintaining a healthy balance between professional responsibilities, personal health, and family life. He encouraged doctors to devote time to their own well-being, emphasizing that a healthy doctor is better equipped to serve society.
A brief presentation was also made by Umbera Group, which shared information about its upcoming project in Ludhiana. The CME was organized in association with Umbera Group.
On this occasion, several dignitaries and members of the medical fraternity were present, including Dr. Pawan Dhingra, President, IMA Ludhiana; Dr. Davinderjit Walia, Vice President, IMA Ludhiana; Dr. P.S. Jassal, Past President, IMA Ludhiana; Dr. Dhiraj Aggarwal, Past President, IMA Ludhiana; Dr. Karamveer Goyal, Member, Punjab Medical Council; Dr. Dhiren Bassi, Joint Secretary, IMA Ludhiana; and Dr. Pankaj Mittal, Finance Secretary, IMA Ludhiana, along with many senior and young doctors of the city.
Dr. Ashish Ohri, Secretary, IMA Ludhiana, who could not attend the programme due to an urgent professional commitment, conveyed his greetings and appreciation to the speakers, dignitaries, members, and organizing team. He reaffirmed IMA Ludhiana’s commitment to promoting academic excellence, professional unity, and ethical medical practice.
The programme concluded with appreciation for the speakers and active participation of the members.
