Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister, Dr. Balbir Singh, announced on Friday that Ludhiana Civil Hospital will soon be equipped with a patient facilitation centre to assist and guide patients. Additionally, ICU and NICU wards will be operationalized, and efficient emergency services and air-conditioned facilities will be provided throughout the building this year.
The Health Minister made this announcement during his visit to the Civil Hospital, here.
After visiting the emergency, ICU, NICU, MCH, and other wards, along with the drug de-addiction centre in the Local Civil Hospital, the Health Minister, accompanied by MLA Ashok Parashar Pappi, Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney, Commissioner of Police Kuldeep Chahal, and Civil Surgeon Dr. Jasvir Singh Aulakh, disclosed that this centre would be for the convenience of patients near the entrance of the hospital. This will have proper seating capacity. The staff of this facilitation centre will provide credible information to patients about the doctors as per their needs. The minister said the staff would also take patients, especially the ailing and elderly, to doctors’ rooms themselves.
He stressed that patients visiting government health institutions must not face any kind of problem in availing treatment and their utmost satisfaction must be accorded top priority. He reiterated Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab government’s firm commitment for providing world class healthcare to its residents and make our state Rangla Punjab again.
The Minister mentioned that the ICU and NICU will be made operational soon by deputing adequate manpower, including doctors, DNB students, and paramedics. The services of the emergency ward will also be strengthened by deploying sufficient staff around the clock. The centralized AC facility in the building will also be ensured, and officials have been asked to prepare the report and submit it soon.
Dr. Balbir emphasized that the Punjab Government is committed to ensuring quality health services to the general public of the district by ramping up the infrastructure and facilities. World-class health facilities will be ensured for the general public, and appropriate steps will be taken on a priority basis in this direction. He stated the process of filling vacant posts of medical officers in government hospitals is underway, while the work of recruiting paramedics is almost over. The medicines and equipment have already been ensured for the government health institutions.
In another major decision to make drug dependents self-reliant, the Health Minister said they must be enrolled in skill development courses to wean them away from drugs. He said these courses would make them employable so that they don’t fall prey to drugs again.
Earlier, the Health Minister also held a meeting with Civil Surgeons and other medical officers and ordered them to use manpower efficiently and ensure that every patient coming for treatment must be attended.
