The five-member recruitment committee began planting saplings as instructed by the Akali workers in the Hukamnama issued on December 2, which called for the planting of 1.25 lakh saplings.
Today, we need to protect both trees and women's rights.
On December 2, a Hukamnama Sahib was issued by the five Singh Sahibs from the wall of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, ordering the planting of 125,000 saplings within the following year. To begin fulfilling the spirit of this Hukamnama, members of the recruitment committee—Sardar Manpreet Singh Ayali, Jathedar Gurpartap Singh Wadala, Jathedar Iqbal Singh Jhundan, Jathedar Santa Singh Umaidpuri, and Bibi Satwant Kaur—started by planting saplings themselves.
The committee members emphasized that the teachings of the Gurus carry a universal message for the conservation of nature, encapsulated in the phrase "Pawan Guru Pani Pita Mata Dharti Mahatu," which highlights the importance of preserving the environment by referring to air as the Guru, water as the Father, and the earth as the Mother.
They stated that it is now our social and moral responsibility to protect trees and the earth. Due to excessive tree cutting in the modern era, temperatures have risen, contributing to global warming.
The recruitment committee appealed to all Akali workers to heed the Hukamnama Sahib issued by Sri Akal Takht Sahib and plant at least two saplings each. Additionally, they encouraged workers to share photos of themselves planting saplings on social media, motivating their relatives, friends, and acquaintances to join in the effort to preserve the environment.
