Experts Deliberate on Artificial Intelligence and Outcome-Based Learning to Enhance Teaching Excellence
Gulzar Group of Institutions successfully concluded its five-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on the theme "Empowering Teaching and Learning through Artificial Intelligence and Outcome-Based Learning." The program was designed to equip faculty members with advanced knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI), research methodologies, academic planning, and outcome-based assessment practices to meet the evolving demands of higher education.
The FDP commenced with an insightful session by Dr. Amit Dugal from NITTTR Chandigarh, who highlighted AI-enabled teaching methodologies and demonstrated the use of open-source research tools such as Shodhganga, Orange, and data mining techniques to strengthen academic research. Prof. Honey Sharma conducted an in-depth session on Course Outcome (CO) and Program Outcome (PO) mapping, along with the practical application of Bloom's Taxonomy in outcome-based education.
AI expert Mr. Gaurav Kumar presented a live demonstration on the use of Generative AI for lesson planning and content creation, while Dr. Amandeep Singh Kalra emphasized innovative teaching practices and the significance of extending learning beyond the prescribed curriculum.
Prof. (Dr.) Sarabjit Singh from Panjab University conducted a hands-on training session on Google NotebookLM and SciSpace tools, enabling participants to create mind maps, reports, and infographics efficiently. In another session, Prof. Honey Sharma shared best practices for ensuring transparency and consistency in mid-semester assessment and evaluation processes. Dr. Deepti Sharma discussed strategies for identifying academically weak as well as high-performing students and providing them with customized academic support and mentoring.
On the concluding day, Mr. Gaurav Madan delivered an informative session on the use of cloud technology in academic research, while Dr. Shahbaz Majeed explained how ERP systems can improve digital attendance management, reporting, and overall administrative efficiency.
Speaking on the successful completion of the FDP, S. Gurcharan Singh, Chairman of Gulzar Educational Charitable Trust, and S. Gurkirat Singh, Vice Chairman, interacted with the faculty members, shared their valuable experiences, and appreciated the enthusiastic participation of all attendees. They thanked the resource persons and faculty members for making the program a grand success.
