BJP Punjab president Sunil Jakhar has urged the Governor to recommend the early implementation of the Model Code of Conduct in the state, citing concerns over law and order and the need to ensure peaceful, free and fair Assembly elections.
Addressing a press conference, Jakhar said the party would also approach the Election Commission of India on the issue. He expressed concern that the prevailing situation could affect voters’ ability to exercise their democratic rights without fear.
