Ludhiana, October 30, 2026
Under the ongoing special anti-dengue campaign ‘Har Shukarvaar Dengue Te Vaar’, the District Health Department Ludhiana today conducted an extensive anti-dengue checking drive across the district. Health teams specially visited police stations, religious places, marriage palaces and community halls to identify and eliminate potential mosquito-breeding sites and prevent the spread of dengue.
During the campaign, health teams covered 297 areas and 8,143 houses, while 18,393 containers were checked. Larvae were detected at 8 locations, and 9 containers were found positive for mosquito breeding. The teams took necessary measures to eliminate the identified breeding sites.
The special drive focused on inspecting premises of police stations, religious places, marriage palaces and community halls, along with their surrounding areas. Rooftops, water storage containers, coolers, unused utensils and other places where stagnant water could accumulate were thoroughly checked. The management committees and concerned staff were also sensitised about the importance of maintaining cleanliness and preventing mosquito breeding.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Ramandeep Kaur said that dengue prevention is a collective responsibility and requires active participation from every section of society. She emphasised that the Health Department is making continuous efforts through field inspections, awareness activities and identification of mosquito-breeding sites to control dengue transmission.
She appealed to police personnel, religious institution management committees, marriage palace owners, community hall managements and the general public to ensure that their premises remain clean and free from stagnant water. She advised everyone to regularly check water containers, coolers, flower pots, tyres and other potential breeding sites.
The Civil Surgeon reiterated that the ‘Har Shukarvaar Dengue Te Vaar’ campaign aims to encourage people to dedicate at least 10 minutes every Friday to checking their surroundings and eliminating mosquito-breeding sites.
