Ludhiana Police Intensify Anti-drug Drive: 15 Arrested Across 14 Ndps Cases, Significant Contraband Recovered

LUDHIANA, OCTOBER 07, 2026 — In a major crackdown against the drug menace, the Police of Ludhiana has intensified its operations, registering 14 FIRs under the NDPS Act and arresting 15 individuals over the past 24 hours. The police have also made significant contraband recoveries while simultaneously driving awareness and rehabilitation efforts across the city.
Major Seizures and Enforcement
During various targeted raids and intelligence-led operations, the police team recovered a substantial quantity of illicit substances and drug paraphernalia:
* Contraband: 207.50 grams of Heroin, 400 grams of Ganja, and 12.50 grams of Intoxicant Powder.
* Pharmaceutical Contraband: 110 Intoxicant Tablets and 30 Red Capsules.
* Paraphernalia: 7 Lighters and Silver Foil Paper used for drug consumption.
In an ongoing crackdown on drug supply chains, police neutralized both listed suppliers in the area by taking them into custody. Out of seven identified local peddlers, two have been arrested, four are under active verification, and one is currently lodged in jail.
Community Awareness & Youth Outreach
As part of the preventative campaign, special awareness sessions were organized to educate youth about the dangers of substance abuse:
* A dedicated Drug Awareness Program was held at Government School, Haibowal.
* A combined awareness session focusing on Traffic Rules and Drug Prevention was conducted at Malwa Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Kochar Market.
Stakeholder Coordination & Rehabilitation
To ensure a community-driven approach, a joint coordination meeting was chaired at the ACP Central Office with members of Village Defence Committees (VDCs) and the Nasha Mukti Morcha (NMM). All Station House Officers (SHOs) under the Sub-Division attended to streamline local intelligence and preventative strategies.
Focusing equally on treatment and recovery, the police facilitated the admission of 23 individuals to OOAT (Outpatient Opioid Assisted Treatment) Centres and 3 individuals to De-Addiction Centres for rehabilitation.
Ludhiana Police re-affirms its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and appeals to the public to report any information related to illegal drug activities to the nearest police station.
