Malerkotla Police Intensify Action Against Drugs Under Yudh Nasheya Virudh

SIGNIFICANT QUANTITY OF NARCOTIC TABLETS AND OTHER NARCOTIC SUBSTANCES SEIZED
 
MALERKOTLA, SEPTEMBER 5:
Continuing its focused action against the drug menace, Malerkotla Police conducted an early-morning Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) at 09 identified drug hotspots across Malerkotla, Ahmedgarh and Amargarh sub-divisions under the ‘Yudh Nasheya Virudh’ campaign.
 
The entire CASO operation was planned by SP (HQ) D. Ramandeep Bhullar, who assigned specific targets to all Sub-Divisional DSPs, DSP D, Inspector CIA and SHOs for coordinated action at the identified hotspots.
 
The operation resulted in the arrest of 13 accused and registration of seven FIRs under the NDPS Act.
 
The arrested accused include Gurmeet Singh alias Rinku, resident of Janata Nagar, Malerkotla; Muneer, resident of House No. 18, Sarod Road, Malerkotla; Mohammad Amir alias Titu, resident of Mohalla Bhoomi, Malerkotla; Gurtej Singh alias Binda, resident of Village Kasba Bhural, Malerkotla; Jasbir Kumar, resident of House No. 5, Ward No. 15, Ahmedgarh; Malwinder Singh alias Vishal; Sarabjit Singh alias Sahil; Amritpal Singh; Parvinder Singh, resident of Village Jhul; Navtej Singh, resident of Village Chhota Khunda, Ahmedgarh, District Malerkotla; Gursatkiratpal Singh alias Gopi, resident of Mohamdpura; Jagjit Singh alias Jaggi, resident of Ward No. 11, near Singh Sabha Gurudwara Sahib, Amargarh; and Mohd. Saleem alias Sammi, resident of Village Himtana, Police Station Amargarh.
 
Sharing details, SSP Malerkotka Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh said that police teams led by the respective SHOs conducted searches at the identified locations under the supervision of senior police officers. The operation led to the recovery of narcotic tablets and other narcotic substances.
 
In one of the cases, Gursatkiratpal Singh alias Gopi and Jagjit Singh alias Jaggi were arrested in FIR No. 305 dated September 5, 2026, registered under Sections 22, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Amargarh. A total of 102 narcotic tablets were recovered.
 
Mohd. Saleem alias Sammi was arrested on September 4, 2026, in connection with FIR No. 27 dated February 15, 2025, registered under Section 21 of the NDPS Act and Sections 305, 331(4) and 317(2) of the BNS at Police Station Amargarh. A recovery of 10 grams of narcotic substance had been made at the time of his arrest.
 
SSP Khakh said the investigation will focus on tracing the source of the recovered drugs and identifying the wider network connected with the arrested accused, so that further action can be taken against those involved in the supply chain.
 
He said Malerkotka Police will continue such targeted operations at identified drug hotspots and other vulnerable areas.
 
He also appealed to the public to share information about drug peddlers and suppliers with the police, assuring that the identity of informers will be kept confidential.
 
“Our action against drugs will continue. We need the support of the public to identify and stop those involved in the drug trade,” said SSP Khakh.
