Seminar by Bureau Of Indian Standards (BIS) “Manak Manthan” with Fastener Manufacturers Association of India (Regd) took place at premises of CICU. The motive of Seminar was to make aware Fastener Industry regarding benefits of registration with BIS, to apprise members about proposed changes in BIS Standards & safeguard Fastener Industry from import of sub-standard quality of fasteners from China. Chief Guest Sh. Deepak Aggarwal – Sr. Director BIS apprised members about activities of BIS , how to know genuine ISI Mark Products. Narinder Bhamra – President FMAI raised concerns of fastener Industry – like reducing the ISI registration fees for MSME’s, Providing Standards at minimum cost to MSME, Sub- Standard purchase of fasteners by Govt departments ignoring Standards lay down by BIS and more important dumping of Sub-Standard Fasteners by China in Indian Market causing loss to local Industry. Sh. Deepak Aggarwal took note of all concerns & assured prompt action by BIS, in particular to take steps to stop sub-standard import of fasteners from China by imposing BIS Clause on Fasteners as imposed on Steel.

Sh. Gulshan Kumar – Deputy Director & Sh. Neeraj Mishra gave presentation of proposed changes in fastener Standards. Mr. S B Singh – Co-ordinated the proceedings. Fastener Industry also proposed certain amendments in Standards, which were accepted in principal by Sr. Director BIS. S. Darshan Singh from Forex Fastener also raised issues of Fastener Industry & have hosted the meeting.
