Municipal Corporation (MC) Ludhiana has appealed to the residents to submit the property tax for the current financial year (2024-25) by December 31, 2024 to avoid a 10 percent penalty on the pending tax.
No penalty is imposed on payment of property tax for the current financial year by December 31, but a 10 percent penalty is imposed on payment of tax after December 31.
The officials informed that the residents can avail 10 percent rebate on payment of property tax for the current financial year by September 30. No penalty is imposed on payment of tax from October 1 to December 31, while the department imposes a 10 percent penalty on payment of tax from January 1 to March 31. The penalty is increased to 20 percent and 18 percent annual interest is also imposed, if the residents fail to pay tax for the current financial year by March 31.

MC Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal said that apart from the regular working days, the civic body has decided to keep the zonal suvidha kendras open on Saturday (December 28) and Sunday (December 29) too. The decision has been taken to facilitate the residents in submitting the tax by December 31.
Dachalwal appealed to the residents to submit their pending tax in time to avoid penalties. He said that the collected amount is used for providing basic amenities to the residents and for taking up development works in the city
