Week long inter-college youth festival of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana concluded with a note of gaiety. S. Harpal Singh Cheema, Finance Minister, Government of Punjab was the Chief Guest on this occasion. He assured the university authorities for full financial support to develop the university infrastructure and asked the university to submit blue print of the same. He praised the dedication and performance of students during the youth festival. He underlined that students are the future of our nation and Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University plays a pivotal role in encouraging them to serve the society. Sh. Gurpreet Gogi, MLA, Sh. Jassi Sekhon, Senior Leader and Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice Chancellor, Punjab Agricultural University were the guests of honour. The other eminent personalities present on the occasion were Sh. Amit Sharma, Resident Editor, Dainik Jagran and Advocate, Paramveer Singh. S. Harpal Singh Cheema and all the dignitaries were honored during the festival. Dr. APS Brar was also honored for his contribution towards the students’ activities during his service at the university.
Dr. Jatinder Paul Singh Gill, Vice-Chancellor presided over the function. He said that youth festival plays a significant role in the up-liftment of overall personality of the students and congratulated the officers of the university for successful conduct of the event. He also thanked the chief guest for sparing his valuable time and extending his support to the university for infrastructure development.
Dr. Parkash Singh Brar, DSW cum EO apprised that 13th inter college youth festival started on 25 November. The festival was held in two phases i.e. November 25-28 and December 03-05, 2024. Dr. Brar thanked the Vice-Chancellor for his moral and financial support for the successful conduct of the event. He also appreciated the whole hearted support of the faculty and students.
Dr. A.P.S. Brar organizing secretary said that competitions in several categories and events were held with active participation of more than 200 students from five constituent colleges, College of Fisheries, College of Veterinary Science, Ludhiana and at Rampura Phul, College of Dairy and Food Science Technology, College of Animal Biotechnology; Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Amritsar an affiliated college, and Veterinary Pharmacy and RRTC, Kaljharani. Students showcase their talent in different fields like Fine Arts, Theatre, Singing, Dances and Literary events. Sh. Karamjit Anmol renowned Punjabi folk singer and actor mesmerized the audience with his melodious voice, and entertained the audience with Punjabi songs.
During the prize distribution ceremony, S. Harpal Singh Cheema, Dr. Jatinder Paul Singh Gill and other dignitaries distributed the prizes to the winners. Best male and female actors were awarded with the Gold medals and cash award in the name of Dr. Darshan Bari, a noted Punjabi actor and Kabaddi commentator.
