BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh stated that the party holds Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji as sacred, as Guru, and as God, and asserted that acts of sacrilege must be treated with the highest seriousness. He said that cases of sacrilege should be registered under charges equivalent to murder, with life imprisonment as punishment for the guilty.
Chugh demanded that the Bhagwant Mann-led government must explicitly include “Pran Pratishthit” Hindu idols in the proposed anti-sacrilege legislation. He emphasized that no discrimination can be allowed in matters of faith.
He further said that certain mischievous elements are attempting, as part of a conspiracy, to create unrest and tension in Punjab through incidents of sacrilege, but such designs will not be allowed to succeed under any circumstances.
Chugh urged the AAP government to immediately amend the proposed bill and incorporate clear provisions for the protection of “Pran Pratishthit” Hindu idols, ensuring equal respect for all faiths.
