The gung-ho city 'Saang' lovers on the penultimate, today, thronged the sprawling open-air theatre at Kalagram, to be a part of the ongoing four-day Haryanavi 'Saang Utsav'-26', hosted by the North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC), Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
The tastefully decked up stage lit up as prominent 'Saang' Dharamveer walked up to it along with his team, donning the dazzling Haryanavi attires, and delivered a power-packed performance amid a cheering crowd.
The 'saang' titled 'Heera Mal Jamaal', presented by them infused a fresh energy into the charged event with their spirited performances. Their team presented some amusing medieval-era tales revolving around love, loyalty and struggle in a typical rural locale, powered by the magnificent acting and the magic of their vocal chords. They conveyed a message of social reform through famous 'Ragini' renditions, flagging the vices like theft, gambling, adultery, among others, with the artistes' perfect coordination and their commanding stage presence, thus garnering immense adulation from the audience.
The star performer of the evening was well known 'Saangi', Karn Singh (and party), who delivered a scintillating stage performance. He mesmerised the audience with an epic tale of Padmavati and Ranveer Sain, the prince and princess of the ruling emperors of the times. Both loved each other fondly. There is another character - Chander Dutt, the cunning son of a wealthy merchant, and a friend of Ranveer Sain, who always weaved a web of deceit to entice them. As Padmavati and Ranveer grew up, Chander Dutt's intentions turned sinister, and he began to secretly manipulate Padmavati, ever after she offered him a bouquet of flowers to greet him. Ranveer, with his sharp wit, uncovered Chander's treachery and cleverly foiled his plans to tear them apart. With love and wisdom, the royal couple outsmarted the betrayer, their bond stronger than ever. A tale of love, loyalty, and betrayal that warns us to look beyond appearances.
Prominent 'Saang' icons - Ramsharan and Sanjay Malik Dharamveer Singh (and ) will perform along with their teams , on the concluding day, tomorrow, March 22.
Popular standup comedienne of Haryana Renu Duhan, conducted the stage and kept the audience in high spirits with dollops of rustic Haryanavi humour
