*GLADA officials conduct survey of property*

Under Yudh Nashya Virudh campaign of Punjab government, Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (GLADA) officials along with heavy police force on Tuesday conducted a survey of the property belonging to Gurdip Singh Rano, a former sarpanch and alleged kingpin of a multi-crore heroin smuggling network.

Rano has been facing around 11 cases under various sections, including the NDPS Act. In 2020, the STF team arrested him with approximately 31 kg of heroin, exposing his large-scale heroin trafficking operations. Police and other agencies had previously seized large quantities of drugs in related cases.

The officials accompanied by a heavy police force, arrived at Rano's luxurious residence and conducted on-site measurement of the entire property, including boundary walls. The team also took photographs of the property and a report will be sent to higher authorities for further action.

GLADA Junior Engineer Aman Deep Singh stated that preliminary investigations reveal that no building plan/map was approved by GLADA and the mansion was illegally built without permission. He further noted that the family had previously filed a writ petition in court to prevent demolition, but it was disposed of on May 9, clearing the path for GLADA to proceed as per rules.

During the survey, senior police officials present included DSP (Headquarters) Khanna Pritpal Singh Sandhu, DSP Payal Jaswinder Singh Khaira, SHO Payal Tarwinder Kumar Bedi, SHO Malaud Charanjit Singh, SHO Doraha Akash Dutt, and a large number of police personnel. Police were deployed at every corner of the property to maintain law and order.

Police officials stated that Gurdip Singh Rano has about 11 cases registered under the NDPS Act and other serious sections. Following large drug recoveries, he spent nearly the past five years in various Punjab jails and was released on bail about four months ago.

SSP Khanna Dr. Darpan Ahluwalia stated that drug traffickers will not be spared at any cost and the police is fully committed to wiping out drug menace.
