A renowned doctor from Ludhiana, Dr. Inderjit Singh, Director of Dr. Kotnis Acupuncture Hospital and Education Centre, will attend the 159th Executive Board meeting of the World Health Organization, which will be held in Geneva from May 22 to 26.
Dr. Singh will participate in the meeting as a representative of the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies, an official body associated with WHO. During the meeting, he will present important proposals aimed at improving global health through traditional systems of medicine, especially acupuncture.
Dr. Singh will also highlight that his suggestion was accepted by WHO last year, in which acupuncture was promoted as a preventive healthcare method. Continuing this initiative, he will propose organizing free acupuncture camps in Asian countries with the support of sponsors, so that treatment can reach a larger population.
Dr. Singh’s work has already been recognized internationally. In 2025, he was honored by the Chinese government with a prestigious military award on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of China’s resistance against Japanese aggression.
With more than 50 years of experience, Dr. Singh will continue to promote traditional medicine with a spirit of service. He will emphasize that acupuncture is a drug-free, cost-effective, and efficient treatment that can help manage many health conditions and provide long-lasting benefits.
His continuous efforts are expected to gain further global recognition, and WHO is likely to extend more support for integrating acupuncture into modern healthcare systems.
