On the occasion of World Health Day, various awareness programs and activities were organized across all government health institutions in district Ludhiana. This year’s theme, “Together for Health, Stand with Science,” was observed with great enthusiasm, focusing on promoting public awareness about health and encouraging a scientific approach towards healthcare.
Civil Surgeon Ludhiana, Dr. Ramandeep Kaur, informed that World Health Day was celebrated in all government hospitals, Community Health Centres (CHCs), Primary Health Centres (PHCs), and Health & Wellness Centres across the district. During the events, healthcare workers motivated patients and the general public to adopt a healthy lifestyle, maintain a balanced diet, engage in regular physical activity, and undergo periodic health check-ups.
She highlighted that non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and heart diseases are on the rise, and awareness is essential for their prevention and control. She also urged people not to believe in rumors or misinformation and to rely only on scientifically proven healthcare practices.
Dr. Ramandeep Kaur further stated that health awareness rallies, seminars, medical check-up camps, and cleanliness drives were conducted throughout the district. Awareness sessions were also held in schools and Anganwadi centres to educate children and women about important health practices. ASHA workers and other health staff actively participated by reaching out to communities, especially in rural areas.
She also emphasized that digital health services and telemedicine are being strengthened to provide accessible and efficient healthcare, particularly benefiting people in remote areas.
In conclusion, the Civil Surgeon appealed to all citizens to adopt healthy habits, go for regular health screenings, and spread awareness among their families and communities. She stated that “only through collective efforts and trust in science can we build a healthier and stronger society.”
