Hoshiarpur 23 Feb (Vikas Sood): Under the ample guidance of President Dr. Anoop Kumar and Secretary Sh. D.L. Anand (Retd. Principal), Amrita Pritam Punjabi Sahit Sabha of the D.A.V. College of Education, Hoshiarpur organized a contest -Miss Punjaban and Mr. Punjab- to mark the International Mother Language Day. Dr. Jasveera Anoop Minhas, Vice-Principal, Govt. College, Hoshiarpur graced the occasion as a Worthy Chief Guest. Principal Dr. Vidhi Bhalla formally welcome the Worthy Chief Guest and added multilingual education is a pillar of intergenerational learning that encourages us to use the mother tongue both at school and in everyday life. Madam Rashmi Parmar, Madam Tushti Sharma and Mr. Rubin adjudged the talent of the students. In this contest, students actively and enthusiastically participated in Modelling, Activity and Question-Answer Round. Among the Girls, Mehak Shagotra was declared as Miss Punjaban, and Komal Jaswal & Dimple was declared as first and second runner-up. From Boys Saurav Badhan was declared as Mr. Punjab and Jasdeep Singh & Rahul Shagotra was adjudged as first and second runner-up. On the same day a handwriting competition in Punjabi was also organized and B.Ed. students Sangam, Suman and Manjit got the first, second and third prize. President Dr. Anoop Kumar congratulated the students on this special day and said, multilingual education not only promotes inclusive societies but also aids in preserving non-dominant, minority, and indigenous languages. Madam Jaswinder Kaur and B.Ed. student Rahul Shagotra also recited poems on mother tongue. Worthy Chief Guest and Principal Dr. Vidhi Bhalla felicitated the winners and appreciated the active participation of all the students. Students who brought laurels to the college from other institutions also felicitated by the Worthy Chief Guest. While addressing the students Dr. Jasveera Anoop Minhas made the students aware regarding the culture of the Punjab and said, International Mother Language Day underscores the role of mother tongue in achieving Sustainable Development Goals. Principal Dr. Vidhi Bhalla extended vote of thanks to the Worthy Chief Guest and also appreciated the efforts of organizers Dr. Chetna Sharma, and Ms. Jaswinder Kaur.
