Entering its third consecutive day, the Ludhiana Commissionerate Police has significantly amplified its offensive against organized crime under the banner of Operation Prahar 2.0. Initiated under the strategic directives of Sh. Gaurav Yadav, IPS, DGP Punjab, this intensified crackdown aims to systematically dismantle criminal networks and eliminate the "gangster culture" from the city. The campaign was characterized by high-level field leadership, with Dr. S. Boopathi, IPS, IGP (Provisioning), Punjab, and Sh. Swapan Sharma, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana, personally supervising briefings and field operations to ensure clinical tactical precision. Consolidated Success: The three days of the operation have seen a massive mobilization of resources, resulting in a significant dent in local criminal infrastructure with 232 Total Arrests, including high-profile gangsters, wanted criminals, and Proclaimed Offenders (POs). Tactical Execution: Over 245 raids were conducted by specialized teams, with a total of 950 police personnel deployed across strategic hideouts and sensitive zones. This included intensive combing operations and city-wide Nakabandis (checkpoints). Total Recoveries (Feb 9 – Feb 11): The strikes led to the seizure of substantial contraband and weaponry, including: * 209 grams of Heroin, 92 Prohibited Tablets, and 5g of ICE drug. * Four Pistols (including .32 bore and country-made) plus ammunition. * 15 Two-wheelers, 45 Stolen Mobile Phones, and 10 boxes of Illicit Liquor. * The arrest of 4 Proclaimed Offenders who had been absconding for many years. The Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana, issued a statement: > "Operation Prahar 2.0 is not a temporary measure; it is a sustained, systematic purge of high-risk elements," stated Commissioner of Police, Swapan Sharma, IPS. "We are now expanding our scope to target the financial and logistical roots of organized crime to ensure a long-term impact on public safety." The Ludhiana Police remains steadfast in its commitment to a crime-free city. As the operation enters Day 3, the force continues to act with zero tolerance toward anti-social elements and urges the public to remain vigilant and supportive of these enforcement measures.
